V8 supercar driving is becoming a favourite pastime as the sport continues to attract more local and international following. In fact, V8 superstars Marcos Ambrose and Paul Morris have collaborated together in a joint venture that offers to the public and corporate world the rare opportunity of riding and driving V8 replica cars like the Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores. This venture produced the V8 Super School, where the driving as well as the passenger packages will be at the Gold Coast Performance Driving Centre. The V8 Supercar Team of Morris is currently based here and there are initial plans that look into other venues in Australia.
The V8 Super School was launched in several demonstration laps on the 6.2 km circuit in Mount Panorama in Bathurst. This event was then followed at the Bob Jane T-Marts last October 7 to 10, which became the 10th round of the V8 Supercar Championship. The cars featured in the School are nothing less than the real thing. Passengers and drivers who avail of the V8 Supercar driving packages will surely delight in the thrill and excitement aboard a powerful V8 car. In addition, the packages are very attractive because the rates are affordable and the environment is very safe.
Incidentally, the V8 Super School cars have been featured in demonstration laps last October 21 to 24 in Surfers Paradise for the Lexmark Indy 300. The event presented the Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge, which was the 11th V8 Supercar Championship round. For the School’s use, a special line of V8 Commodores and Falcons have been built including a YV Holden in Sirromet Wines livery. This is a replica of the car raced by Morris in the V8 Supercar Championship. In the fleet is the Commodore in Castrol colours and the Falcons, which are the signature cars of Marcos Ambrose and displaying the same sponsors of the V8 superstar.
There is clearly a high demand for V8 supercars with a strong fan base eager to ride or drive these amazing cars. For this reason, Morris is set to extend the services of the School in many parts of the country. There are currently two V8 Super school packages, which are the ‘drive 12 laps’ sessions and the ‘passenger’ rides. The driving deal entails classroom and in-car sessions by experienced instructors prior to sampling the track. The only requirement is a provisional driver’s licence. For the price of $399 per person, every participant can fulfil their lifelong dream to get inside a V8 Supercar. The tuition includes a certificate of completion, racing attire and helmet rental and entrance to the Motorsport Museum. For passenger packages, a qualified driver will treat every participant with 4 V8 Supercar hot laps. Admission is a lot cheaper at only $120 per person, which includes entrance to the Motorsport Museum, a tour round the Paul Morris Motorsports V8 Supercar workshop and a free Castrol or Performance Driving Centre
However, the two V8 Supercar driving superstars behind the School are quick to emphasize that their cars are not exactly built according to V8 Supercar specifications. The cars do feature practical modifications like spring and shock absorbers, Michelin racing slick tires with 18 inch wheels, special brakes for the Commodores, Brembo brakes on the Falcons and aerodynamic kit. The slick tires will be a treat for customers who will experience the optimal performance of the V8s on the tracks. Naturally, these cars will not have the 600 horsepower of the actual V8 Supercars, but they do carry that extra force that makes them feel like real racing cars. Your V8 Supercar driving experience will certainly be an unforgettable one as you feel the grunt and the extra thrill of racing like a pro.
